"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
The Fifth also gurantees that our property shall not be infringed, stolen, or removed from our possession by ANYONE - especially law enforcement or government - without due process and JUST COMPENSATION.
That amazes me...see...because the police in our town (Santa Clarita Valley) routinely steal money from teenagers when they stop and frisk them. This happens all the time and has been witnessed by several people I know. They just roll up on them, frisk them, and take any cash they have. I know one teenager who was robbed just last month of $200.00 by the sheriffs here in town. It was his allowance for the month. They wait until the kids are out on lunch at the high schools and get them at the fast food places. Saw it twice myself.
However, according to the 5th, this is AGAINST THE LAW and is nothing short of organized theft with the protection of the law enforcement, by law enforcement, and the courts.
The Mafia never had it so good.
